Cambridge Camera Club

I am very pleased to have been offered membership to the Cambridge Camera Club.  The club is one of the oldest photographic societies in the country having been founded in 1902 for the promotion of knowledge relating to all branches of photography and the fellowship and recreation of its members. The club meets from September through to May with a varied programme of talks, competitions, demonstrations and discussions.

It’s a very prestigious and active club with 120 members, the waiting list runs into several years, I had almost forgotten about my application!  There are several Special Interest Groups:

  • Freshers – guiding new club members into the ‘club style’ and camera skills
  • Abbey Horizons – to develop the creative and artistic process
  • Portrait – practice and enhance skills in all aspects of portraiture including lighting and location
  • Aperture – exchange opinions and offer advice to those who wish to extend their skills and try for distinctions
  • Digital Techniques – workshops and an informal friendly environment to improve all aspects of digital processing skills
  • Nature & Travel – an opportunity for members to share their images with like-minded friends
